The latest Tablet PC

To satisfy the increasing demand for tablet PCs from technology savvy customers, Cheap Laptops Centre increases range of tablets available for customer purchase.

Returning customers have demonstrated that they have an insatiable appetite for tablet PCs, wanting the latest release of a tablet in the range. This demand is also fuelled by the manufacturers releasing newer more powerful tablets with increased memory, screen size and functionality. Cheap Laptops Centre has improved the range of tablet PCs available on its website to take advantage of this growing consumer trend.

The company states that they have added the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to their range of tablets from Samsung. This compliments the existing Galaxy Tab together with the other tablets available including the Apple New iPad, Asus Eee Pad Transformer and the Sony S Tablet PC.

Whilst the demand for laptops is still present, the popularity and use of tablet PCs has significantly risen. Whilst most of this can be put down to the reputation of the Apple iPad, tablets powered by Android have seen measurable increases in sales. Most notable in the Android arena is Samsung with its Galaxy Tab and the recently released Galaxy Tab 2 range.

The Galaxy Tab 2 tablets are available with a 7” screen with 8, 16 or 32GB memory and a 10.1” screen with 16 or 32GB memory, both available in black or white.

Surveys has highlighted that tablet PCs are not always a replacement for the family desktop or laptop computer, instead tablet PCs are being used as an additional device for browsing, emailing or general entertainment. This is most notable in households with higher disposable incomes with the tablet being used in the bedroom or whilst travelling.

This demand is further driven by the vast range of addictive applications or ‘apps’ available for the tablets. Apps for the iPad are available from Apple App Store whilst Android Apps are available from Google Play and the tablet manufacturer itself.

Cheap Laptops Centre compares the latest laptops, tablets and Ultrabooks on sale from UK online retailers including the popular Dell laptops and the Sony VAIO. The price comparison facility is just one of the features presented; there are also tips and user guides available for those requiring additional advice or information before committing to a purchase.

Microsoft’s latest Windows phone OS will be on shelves by the end of the year, according the the latest from the online rumour mill

Windows Phone 8 handsets could be in our hands in November, according to ZDNet’s source – dashing hopes of a simultaneous Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 launch on October 26th.

However, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has told the New York Times that Windows Phone 8 software would be released in October – which could suggest that Nokia Windows Phone 8 devices will get a month’s head start with the OS before it’s released to other devices in November.

Considering many pundits believe that Microsoft’s success will lie in its ability to provide broad device integration for consumers using the Metro interface, this timing seems to make sense.

With Nokia’s hopes of a return to glory now pinned exclusively on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 release date and an ensuing arsenal of new Nokia Smartphones, the Finnish company must be finding it difficult to accept how close they came to complete and total market domination.

While Nokia may have enjoyed an incredible run of 14 years right at the top of the mobile phone stakes – until recently dislodged by Samsung – the fact that they have little to bring to the table against the iPhone and a world of leading Android Smartphones paints a worrying picture of the future.

Analysts and experts agree that had Nokia invested more money in next-generation product development rather than patent acquisition and misguided OS projects, they would have stood every chance of taking some of the glory now hogged by the likes of Apple and Samsung.

Perhaps even more distressingly still, no less than eight years before Apple first graced the world with the iPhone, Nokia had already created mockups of what would have been the world’s first all touchscreen Smartphone with just one physical button, along with a larger version which would have likewise been the world’s first tablet PC.

Had Nokia only followed what was clearly an incredible grasp on the future of the industry, we may have never seen Apple become anything more than a low-end player in the PC and notebook stakes.

Heartbreaking as it may be, Nokia has for all intents and purposes blow perhaps the only chance the company will ever have to dominate the market to a bewildering extent, leading to a situation now where the best they can hope for is a few modest crumbs dropped by Apple and Google.

The Windows Phone 8 release date is expected to be announces later this summer, with products scheduled to begin arriving before the holiday buying season.

Google has begun shipping its Nexus 7 and the initial response to the tablet seems to be positive, with industry sources indicating that the platform vendor will be able to ship 2.5-3 million units or even more in 2102. But it remains to be seen whether the roll-out of the Nexus 7 is a blessing or a curse for other vendors of Android-based tablets.

The rise in demand for the Nexus 7 may break Apple’s dominance in the tablet PC market, while boosting the share of Android-based models in the segment. For this, Google certainly will come out as the sole beneficiary resulting from the launch of the low-priced Nexus 7.

Reactions to the availability of the Nexus 7 vary from vendors to vendors. Although the launch of the Nexus 7 looks to take on Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Apple’s iPad, the two primary rivals have still kept the pricing of their tablets intact.

Samsung, which enjoys a high level of brand recognition, cut slightly the prices of its tablets in order to cope with increasing competition and to pave the way for the launch of its own new models.

But for Acer and Asustek Computer, they seem to have adopted the same strategy of lowering the prices of their 10.1-inch models to the levels close to those quoted for 7-inch models by Google or other rivals in order to attract consumers.

The white-box vendors simply slashed their prices to the bone, with some 7-inch models now available at US$59 in some large-scale retail channels in the US.

With the exception of the iPads, all of tablets currently available in the market are running on Android platforms, which means that price competition within the Android segment will continue to intensify and that it will be more difficult for hardware brands to generate profits out of the production of Android tablets.

Google’s strategy of setting the pricing of the Nexus 7 to a level close to the BOM clearly indicates that Google doesn’t want to make money from hardware sales. But such a practice actually enacts a barrier that is hard for other hardware vendors to pursue.

The new price competition triggered by the Nexus 7 may enable Google to cut a small piece of market share enjoyed by Apple, but to a great extent, Google eventually will eat up the share held by other members in the Android club.

Hardware brands which have climbed on to the Android bandwagon might come out empty-handed, while seeing Google continue to enjoy profit growth due to expanded advertisement income generated through the increasing popularity of the Nexus 7.

Discovered on a benchmarking test, the HTC Vertex HD has a 1280×752 display, although its size remains unknown for the time being.

Beneath the mystery tablet’s chassis lies the power of a quad-core Tegra 3 processor – and that’s about all we know for now, with no word yet on the Vertex HD’s connectivity, RAM, or camera specs.

We’re hoping to see the mystery tablet launch with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and stylus support wouldn’t be too far-fetched either, given its appearance in the HTC Flyer. Stay tuned for the latest info on this mysterious slate.
